FDC issues show cause notice to contractor

SRINAGAR, July 30: After the unmarked trees were converted into logs in Boniyar forests, the J&K Forest Development Corporation (JKFDC) has directed for the issuance of the show cause notice to the contractor involved apart from withholding payment till the detailed investigation is completed.
In this regard, a communication issued by the Managing Director, JKFDC stated that a complaint was received that the contractor deployed in compartment 21/ Boniyar has converted unmarked trees, following which, it said, the complaint was forwarded to the officers concerned in Forest Department as well as to the officials of J&K Forest Development Corporation Limited.
“The preliminary enquiry has established, 14 unmarked fallen trees have been unauthorizedly converted by the contractor namely Shri Ab. Rashid Lone /his labour,” it stated.
Pending a detailed investigation by the competent authority, it has been ordered that the authorized officers shall issue show cause notice to Shri Ab Rashid Lone S/o Ab. Ahad Lone, Registered as (Class D) Contractor under No.267 in terms of J&K State Forest Corporation Regulation of Contractors and their Conduct Regulations 2014 as to why his registration is not canceled and he is not black listed.
“All payments in favor of the above mentioned contractor shall remain withheld till the final outcome of the investigation. The penalty imposed by the Forest Department shall be recovered as the first charge from the payments due to the contractor,” the MD directed.
The communication stated that these directives shall be in addition to any other penalty that the J&K FDCL may impose under the J&K State Forest Corporation Regulation of Contracts and their conduct Regulations 2014.
