KATHUA, Sept 17: The Federation of Veterans Association organised a Governing Council meeting at Palli Morh, here today.
Led by its National President, Retired Subedar Arjun Singh Rathore, the meeting demanded the redressal of various grievances of the ex-servicemen and disparities in the “One Rank One Pension (OROP) Scheme.”
The meeting was facilitated by the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association, Kathua, under the leadership of its Chairman Capt Gian Singh Pathania and President Capt Manohar Singh.
Approximately 150 delegates from various Ex-Servicemen Welfare Associations across the country attended the council meeting to discuss the future course of action in highlighting pressing issues before the Government.
The council criticized the Government for not addressing the grievances of ex-servicemen, including Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and jawans.
President Ex-Sub Arjun Singh Rathore expressed disappointment, stating that despite continuous protests and engagement with the Government through democratic platforms, the disparities in OROP remain unresolved.
He emphasized that the anger among ex-servicemen is growing, and they are considering intensifying their agitation, including seeking support from the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Rathore appealed to the Government to take their demands seriously and establish a committee of three justices to assess all disparities in OROP.
Present at the event were Capt Gian Singh Pathania, Capt Manohar Singh, Vijay Singh, Balkan Singh, Krishan Singh, Sukhbinder Pal Singh, Kapil Fouji, Capt Lokinder Singh Tandon, and Nariman Talwar, who collectively emphasized the need to address these pressing issues.
