UDHAMPUR, Aug 1: During its intensified drive against narcotic smuggling, Udhampur Police today arrested a female among 4 drug peddlers and seized 32 grams of Heroin while in another major success, 95 kg of poppy straw was seized from a truck near Railway Station Udhampur.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that based on a reliable information regarding smuggling of poppy straw, a police patrolling party, led by SHO Udhampur, Inspr Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of Dr Rohit Chadgal, Dy SP Hqrs Udhampur, intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB12F -9267.
During the checking, 95 kg poppy straw was recovered from the said vehicles. The accused driver namely Ravinder Singh son of Nirmal Singh of Kapurthala, Punjab was arrested on the spot and the recovered poppy straw was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR number 360/2019, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on.
The same Police party under the supervision of Rajinder Kumar Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur, ?aid naka near Rount, Udhampur and intercepted one Azhar Ahmed of Housing Colony Udhampur. Five grams of Heroin was recovered from his possession. He was arrested on the spot and the recovered Heroin like substance was also seized.
Police also arrested the female drug peddler from whom Azhar used to purchase the narcotic substance. The female drug peddler was identified as Ashraat Begum wife of Umar Jaan of Housing Colony Udhampur and from search of her house, 10 grams of Heroin was also recovered.
In another case, the Police party from Udhampur Police Station intercepted another drug peddler during a naka at Shiv Nagar, Udhampur when the accused was on his own way from Shiv Nagar to Devika temple road on foot. During personal search, 7 grams of Heroin was recovered from the accused, identified as Yashpal Singh alias Vicky of Shiv Nagar, Udhampur.
The drug supplier, from whom Vicky used to purchase the narcotic substance, was also arrested by Police. He was identified as Charan Singh son of Romal Singh of Raghunathpura Udhampur and from his search, 10 grams of Heroin was recovered.
In this connection, a case FIR number 355/2019, under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on.
