KATHUA, Mar 6: Police has identified the female body which was recovered at Mohali, yesterday falling under the jurisdiction of Lakhanpur Police Station, today.
According to police, the girl has been identified as Payal daughter of Ashok Kumar resident of Islamia Mohalla, Ward Number 7, Gurdaspur, (Punjab) whose body was spotted by labourers yesterday who later informed police.
The team was constituted by Mohan Lal, SSP, Kathua led by K D Bhagat, SHO, Lakhanpur, which went in different direction, working on the fact and figures and clues obtained, ultimately, the accused who was nabbed from Gurdaspur and is now in the police custody.
It was transpired that the girl Payal had left her house (Gurdaspur) about 15 days back and had married through Notary at Kathua on March 4 to the accused namely Goldy son of Raj Kumar of Islamia Mohalla, Ward Number 7, Gurdaspur, who was working in paper mill at a factory in Mohali.
Meanwhile, the girl’s body was handed over to the family members after conducting the post mortem which was earlier kept in the mortuary for identification. Earlier police has initiated the proceeding under Section 174 CrPC at Lakhanpur police station.
Police is now investigating the cause and motive of the death of the girl. The result of the post mortem is awaited for further action.
