UDHAMPUR, June 13: In a high voltage drama, a female contractual employee in of PWD Department attempted suicide by cutting the veins of her wrist in the office of Executive Engineer PWD Udhampur today when a number of contractual employees were protesting there for release of their salary.
The woman, identified as Zarifa, wife of Mohd Shafi and mother of three children, allegedly took the extreme step under frustration over no-release of her salary for the last few months. She was rushed to District Hospital Udhampur and her condition was stated to be out of danger.
The contractual employees PWD and R&B Department Udhampur were protesting for their regularization and release of pending salary.
