Feroz inaugurates Solar Heating Systems at Kargil Sarai, Hostel

JAMMU, Oct 20: Minister of State for Science & Technology & Information Technology, Feroz Ahmad Khan inaugurated 1500 Lpd Solar Water Heating System at Kargil Sarai situated in Gandhi Nagar locality and 2000 Lpd Solar Water Heating System at Kargil Boys Hostel in  Channi Rama here today.
These systems have been installed at cost of Rs 3.14 lakh and Rs 4.03 lakh respectively by Jammu & Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) through M/s Kotak Urja Pvt Ltd., Bangalore.
At Kargil Boys Hostel, Channi Rama, the Minister assured the student community residing in the hostel of providing them the Library and Computer facility. The Minister also announced installation of 15 KW Solar Power Plant in the hostel at an estimated cost of Rs 36.75 lakh to augment the energy requirement of the hostel. Besides this, he also announced installation of 15 KW Solar Power Plant at Ladakhi Girls Hostel, Muthi, Jammu, 50KW Solar Power Plant at Kargil Boys Hostel, Srinagar and 20KW Solar Power Plant at Kargil House,  Bemina, Srinagar.
The Minister assured the students residing in these hostels that their various demands would be fulfilled in the phased manner after due consultations with the Student Union of the hostel.
Mr. Feroz directed the JAKEDA officers to provide the Solar Power Plant backup at an earliest.
Deepak Sharma, District officer, JAKEDA briefed the gathering about the various activities of JAKEDA being implemented in the State. Zakir Hussain, Manager of these hostels was also present on the occasion.
