Festival of colours ‘Holi’ celebrated with enthusiasm, religious fervour

JAMMU, Mar 15: The festival of colours “Holi” was celebrated with enthusiasm and religious fervour.
Handa College organised a colourful ‘Salad Making Competition’ to celebrate Holi. MD of the college Dr Vikram Handa was the chief guest, whereas Savita Sethi and Rupinder Kour adjudged the programme. Team cucumber secured first position, whereas Cabbage team got second position and Carrot team claimed third position. The competition was organised by the convener of the programme Sapandeep Kour.
Students of Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School, Rajpura Mangotrian celebrated Holi with pomp and show. Principal along with staff members were also present. Students sprinkled colours on each other.
Holi was celebrated at Vishwa Bharti Public Higher Secondary School, Akalpur, Muthi. A special morning assembly was held wherein senior teachers and students spoke about the importance of the festival. Principal of the institution Prof Annapurna Kaul was also present. A cultural show was also organised where blooming buds of the primary and pre-primary unit sang songs, danced and sprinkled colours on each other.
DRS Kids International School, Bishnah celebrated Holi of flowers with great enthusiasm. Children dressed in colouful costumes used colours and flowers to celebrate the festival.
Apple Kids International Pre-School, Bantalab celebrated Holi. Students enjoyed doing finger painting, hand and foot printing on different pictures. They also sprinkled colours on each other. The students were apprised about the importance of colours of different things and were also informed about the precautionary measures to be taken while playing Holi. Students also danced on the tunes of Holi songs. Teachers encouraged them to play dry Holi. Principal of the institution Puja Sharma briefed the students about the importance of the festival.
Yamini Cultural Society organized “Holi Mahotsav” at KL Saigal Hall with the financial assistance of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The programme started with the Bhajan vandana sung by Sat Pal Raina followed by the famous melodies of Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi, Manna Dey, Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle sung by the Rajinder Kishore, Ashq, Gautam Singh Bhanu, Sat Pal Raina, Balwinder Kour and others. Four short plays namely Maa, Gaffey, Main Bhi Ain and Tuss Bhi Samjo directed by Gautam Singh. Dance numbers depicting the rich cultural heritage of J&K well choreographed by JR Jackson were the highlight of today’s function.
NSUI celebrated Holi on Jammu University campus. Speaking on the occasion, Jammu University NSUI president Nitin Bakshi threw light on the importance of the festival. Among others present were Tarun Mahajan, Pankaj Rajput, Abhishek Vasudev, Rahul Sadotra, etc.
