JAMMU, Dec 12: Festival of Duggar Folk Culture (Music & Dances) was organized by Triple A Performing Arts Reasi with the support of Union Ministry of Culture at auditorium of Government College for Women (GCW), Parade Jammu.
Sunaina Sharma Mehta (Joint Director, Tourism Jammu) and Sohail Kazmi (member, JK Waqf Board) jointly inaugurated the festival with the lighting of traditional lamp while Dr SP Sarswat (Principal, GCW Parade, Jammu) was the guest of honour. Dr Sudhir Mahajan (SDI, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages) was the special guest whereas Dr Shushma Rani presided over the function.

President of Triple A Performing Arts Reasi, Sarver Mir presented welcome address. He said the objective of the festival was to revive the various folk and traditional arts (Music & Dances) which are dying in the modern times.
The programme started with the first performance of a traditional folk item Geetru Lok Nach “Aa gorie Aa showrua” performed by Jackson Cultural Society Jammu. Various prominent folk groups performed folk culture including Karkan, Geetru, Gojri, Pahari, Punjabi, Dogri, Chajja Dance, Haran Dance etc.
The chief guest, in her address, said that more events like this should be organized to revive age-old traditions and promote communal harmony and community participation. She hoped that Triple A Performing Arts would continue to organize such events in future.
Triple A Performing Arts organized the event in three locations of the flung areas of the Himalayan and Sub Himalayan regions of Jammu i.e. GCW Parade in Jammu, GZSMDC Reasi and Aghar Jitto Katra, to encourage the artists of the far flung areas of Jammu region.
On the occasion, chief guest and other guests, besides dignitaries from theatre and art were honoured.
