Festivals spread brotherhood, harmony in society: Bhalla

JAMMU, Sept 9: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today greeted the people of the State on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, noting that festivals spread peace and harmony among the society.
The Minister was interacting with the devotees here at Bahu Fort after attending the Ganeshotsav celebration festival. The 10-day Ganeshotsav festival that marks the birth of Lord Ganesh started today.
Hundreds of devotees of Bahu Fort and its adjoining areas participated in the Lord Ganesh celebrations.
Mr. Bhalla said that the celebration of such festivals bring people from all walks of life together and spread brotherhood and peace. He said celebration of this festival is successfully encouraged by the great freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak to galvanize support for India’s independence movement.
The Minister appealed to the people to resolve to renew the spirit and vision of the great leader (Tilak) and re-dedicate themselves to the country’s development and progress.
Mr. Bhalla said ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ has inspired people of India to dedicate themselves to the larger cause of nation-building. He prayed that may Lord Ganesh bless all with wisdom, prosperity and good fortune.
The Minister informed that Ganesh Chaturthi also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi is one of the important Hindu festivals celebrated throughout India with a great devotion.
Earlier, Mr. Bhalla also visited Trikuta Nagar and dedicated five newly installed high mast lights to the people of the area.
