FICCI FLO distributes 6000 masks to TB patients

JAMMU, June 20: In a significant effort to combat Tuberculosis (TB) and reduce infection caused by non-wearing of masks, FICCI FLO JKL today distributed 6000, 6-ply face masks to TB patients. Additionally, nutrition kits were also distributed as part of FLO JKL’s ongoing initiative to provide nutritional support to 100 TB patients.
This endeavor directly utilizes funds raised through the ‘RUN4HEALTH’ Marathon.
The chief guest for the event was Ajay Sharma, SP South Jammu. The donated masks were provided by Dynamic Solutions, represented by Sumeet Malhotra, and the programme is being implemented with support from Dr. Amita Turki, District Tuberculosis Officer at District Tuberculosis Centre, Jammu.
On this occasion Ajay Sharma encouraged TB patients to remain positive and fight the disease by remaining informed and acting responsibly.
Ruchika Gupta, chairperson FICCI FLO JKL informed that TB is a leading cause of deaths in India with two deaths occurring every three minutes due to the disease. A handout of FICCI FLO JKL stated that the initiative supports the Nikshay Poshan Yojna, focusing on nutritional needs of TB patients to ensure that they can adhere to their treatment regimen, improve their diet and achieve faster recovery. Additionally, the distribution of masks will help prevent spread of TB.
Ruchika further said that PM Modi has set the goal of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by 2025.
Several distinguished members of FICCI FLO JKL were present and they included Varuna Anand, Immediate Past Chair, Varsha Bansal, vice chairperson, Sona Mehta, treasurer and Nandita Bajaj, joint secretary.
