SRINAGAR, Dec 25: A fierce encounter enused between two militants, holed up in a house, and security forces in the central Kashmir district of Badgam, official sources said here this evening.
A militant was reportedly injured in the encounter, they said adding the operation was still going on when the reports last came in.
The encounter started when a joint search party of Army and state police was attacked by militants with atuomatic weapons at a village adjacent to Ichagam where militants managed to escape after a brief encounter with security forces yesterday.
They said cordon around the particular area was further tightened to foil any attempt by militants to escape this time.
Sources said two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants are reportedly trapped in a house.
The operation was still going on when the reports last came in, they said, adding further details are awaited. (AGENCIES)
