Fine of Rs 1.52 lakh imposed on food business operators

SRINAGAR, Nov 30: The court of Adjudicating Officer (Additional Deputy Commissioner) Srinagar, Nazir Ahmad Bhat has imposed a fine of Rs one lakh and fifty two thousand on seven food business operators for violating provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act.
The offences include’ selling/manufacturing sub-Standard articles and processing of foods items in unsanitary conditions.
Meanwhile, a team of Food Safety officers, headed by Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety Srinagar, inspected various restaurants in Lal Chowk and Dalgate area. During inspection in some restaurants, synthetic food colours were being used in chicken and mutton preparations. On spot, more than one quintal of such preparations were destroyed and the owners were warned to desist from such kind of future malpractices.
