Fine of Rs 50,000 imposed on petrol pump for short delivery

SRINAGAR, Sept 7: A team of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) today imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 on a petrol pump owner for short delivery of fuel to the Consumers.
The fines were imposed during an inspection conducted by the team of LMD, after a complaint was filed by an aggrieved customer against a Petrol Pump alleging short delivery of fuel.
During the surprise inspection, it was noticed that two Nozzles of the Petrol Pump were delivering short by about 40 ml against every 5 Litres due to which such Nozzles were seized on spot and a Fine of Rs 50,000 was realized on spot from the offender.
In this case, the display boards showing the quantity delivered to Consumers were not matching with the actual delivery which was measured by using Standard Equipment lying with the Legal Metrology department.
The action as warranted under Section 30 of Legal Metrology Act was instantly taken against the offender after an undertaking was taken from him that such offence will not be repeated in future.
