LUCKNOW: An FIR has been registered against renowned Urdu poet and Sahitya Academy award winner Munnawar Rana here for giving inflammatory statement supporting the murders in France.
The FIR was registered here on Sunday, by one Deepak Kumar Pandey, at the Hazratganj police station on a statement given by the poet to a private news channel.
The poet had supported the murder of the teacher in France and had blamed the European country of insulting Prophet.
According to police sources here on Monday, the Urdu poet was booked under section 153A, 295A, 298,505(1)(b), 505(2) of the IPC and section 67 and 66 of the IT act.
Sources said that police was investigating the case. (AGENCIES)
