FIR against encroachers in Eidgah

SRINAGAR, June 20: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari today informed the Legislative Assembly that an FIR has been lodged and encroachments removed from demarcated land, meant for construction of Government College for Women in Eidgah constituency.
The Minister said that demarcation of State land allotted to Government College for Women Nawa Kadal has been carried out by the team of officers. He said that as per demarcation the encroachments have been noticed from Azad Ahmad of Nowhatta (one marla), Reyaz Ahmed Andrabi of Abu Baker Lane Eidgah (8 Marlas) and Farooq Ahmad Panzoo son of Ghulam Qadir of Eidgah (5 Marla).
The Minister said that orders for lodging FIRs and arresting the encroachers have been issued. He said that in pursuance of the demolition drive all three encroachments have been removed and land retrieved. “Demolition process is going on and some encroachments noticed on the adjacent State land are being removed at present,” he said.
The issue was raised in the House by local MLA Mubarak Gul a day earlier.
Presenting the status report, the Revenue Minister said that after receiving the complaint, Financial Commissioner Revenue was directed to initiate the enquiry. “Immediately, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar investigated the matter and three persons were found as encroachers,” he informed the House.
