FIR lodged for power theft, 4 employees attached

JAMMU, Dec 4:  While the senior officials of the PDD have lodged an FIR against  a landlord for power theft and ensuring illegal electricity supply to Bagri Market (Parveen Colony), Trikuta Nagar Extension, near Channi Himmat, the Chief Engineer EM&RE Jammu attached three Meter Readers and a Lineman for the connivance.
The action in this connection was taken by the Chief Engineer after conducting an inquiry led by a team of officers led by SE,  EM&RE Circle-I, Jammu. The team found that one Bhupinder Singh, son of Late Joginder Singh, resident of Jamwal Mohalla (Parveen Colony) was blatantly providing electricity to the market illegally from the LT wires to Bagri Colony at the land owned by him without any temporary/ permanent connections from the PDD, under Division –II and SD-I Gandhinagar (Green Belt).
The inquiry team found that small shops on this plot were getting power supply   from the LT line illegally in connivance with some staff members. Accordingly, the role of Meter Readers Anil Gandotra,  Rakesh Kumar and Kamal Choudhary  and Lineman Swarn Singh came under scanner. All the four were attached with immediate effect with the office of Chief Engineer concerned. FIR has been lodged by the Executive Engineer, on the directions of the Chief Engineer with the Trikuta Nagar police for theft of electricity as provided under Section 95 of the J&K Electricity Act 2010. The legal as well as departmental action is being initiated in this connection against these employees.
