FIR against MLC’s brother

POONCH, Oct 3: Police has lodged an FIR against Sunil Kumar Sharma (brother of PDP MLC Yash Pal Sharma) , contesting Poonch Municipality election as Independent candidate for alleged attack on a BJP worker and his family members last night.
Official sources said that trouble started over an issue of pasting posters and fixing flags related to election campaign. Sunil Kumar Sharma along with his supporters including Satish Kumar (Pharmacist), Navjot Singh, Jatin, Sunny and others was busy in pasting election material on walls and other boards etc.
Ravi Kumar, a BJP worker objected when they tried to fix posters where already BJP had displayed posters in Ward 16. He also alleged that Sunil’s workers were over lapping their party’s posters. Over this issue they had heated exchanges. Then Sunil Kumar and his supporters allegedly beat up the BJP worker Ravi Kumar, his brother and their mother also when she tried to intervene.
The incident took place between 10.30 and 11 pm. Thereafter the contesting BJP candidate from ward 16 , Paramjit Singh and all other BJP candidates along with some workers rushed to the site.
Later, they moved to the Police Station to lodge FIR against the accused persons along with the injured victims. The police earlier avoided to lodge FIR and preferred to go for patch up between both the sides. Then the contesting BJP candidates started protest at Police Station.
BJP MLC Pardeep Sharma also arrived there in their support. The situation turned ugly as BJP workers were in rage.
Later, SSP Rajiv Pandey himself arrived at Police Station and had talk with the angry workers. The police then registered an FIR No. 164/ 2018 under Sections 452/147/323 RPC during mid night against contesting candidate Sunil Kumar, son of Labbu Ram resident of Poonch, Satish Kumar ( Medical employee) and three others. Then all the 17 BJP candidates suspended their protest.
