Fire damages standing wheat crops over 24 Kanals of land

SAMBA, Apr 26: The devastating fire damaged the standing wheat crops over 24 Kanlas of land at village Suchetgarh Kullian and Kangwala area in district Samba today.
The cause of fire is stated to be short circuit. According to reports, this afternoon at around 3 pm, the fire broke out due to short circuit in the field at Village Schetgarh, Kullian which belonged to Prabhu Dayal, son of Parkash Chand. It spread to 16 Kanals of area and destroyed the wheat crop which was to be harvested within days.
When the owner saw the flames of fire in his fields he immediately informed to fire Brigade team. After some time the fire tender reached the spot and controlled the blaze.
In another incident the fire broke out in border village Kangwala, sector Ramgarh where the 8 kanals standing wheat crops belonging to Ravi Kumar, son of Phaku Ram was totally destroyed but the cause of the fire was not known. The farmers asked the district administration to assess the loss and issue ex-gratia relief for the victims for their sustenance as except agriculture they have no other source of livelihood.
