JAMMU, Dec 30: A massive fire destroyed a mattress factory in Gangyal area today.
Police said the mysterious fire erupted in Nidra mattress factory, owned by one Sweesh Anand, around 12:45 pm.
To control the flames, they said, fire tenders, accompanied by locals and teams of police led by SP South Shaheen Wahid, SDPO South, and Station House Officer (SHO) Gangyal, along with other police officials, reached at the spot to contain the flames but till the press time their efforts didn’t materialise. SHO Gangyal, Inspector Jaswinder Singh told the Excelsior, “our team is still on-the-spot as the fire flames are yet to be contained.”
According to him, no casualty or the injury has been reported in the fire.
As far as losses in the devastating fire are concerned, he said, “since our team is still on-the-spot, we’re yet to calculate the estimated loss. Our prime focus is to douse the flames.”
The SHO Gangyal added that an enquiry has been initiated to ascertain the reasons as to how the fire erupted in the factory.
