SRINAGAR, Oct 8:
A massive fire has engulfed large forest area at Pahalgam, where different Government department and locals have joined efforts to douse off the flames.
Official sources told UNI that fire broke out in a forest area in Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir, early Sunday morning.
They said as the incident was reported to the authorities, men from different Government departments, including Fire Services and Forest department, besides locals, rushed to the area to douse off the leaping flames, clearly visible from a distance.
However, they said as the area was not accessible though road, the fire tenders could not reach there. “They have dug wells, besides other methods, to douse off the fire,” sources said. (UNI)
