JAMMU, Apr 18: Fire Services Week celebrated by Air Force Station concluded today.
A series of lectures and demonstration were delivered to the Station personnel, Air Force School and KV-II students.
The fire week was celebrated in remembrance of those 66 brave fire fighters of Bombay Fire Services who sacrificed their lives while fighting with huge fire which occurred at Bombay Dockyard on April 14, 1944. In this fire accident near about 800 people were killed.
The fire services week is being organised every year at Air Force Station Jammu to bring awareness among the Air Force personnel and their families about the importance of fire free zones in all the area of human activities and what precautions to be taken.
During the fire awareness camp, lectures, quiz competition for students and drawing competition were organised. Station personnel took active participation in all the activities enthusiastically. Event of static display was also organised by station fire section in which effective and safe operations of fire fighting appliances were briefed to station personnel and students of Air Force school and Kendriya Vidyalaya.
Speaking on the occasion, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force station reiterated that the prevention of fire is better than fire fighting and only constant training and awareness of usage of fire fighting appliances can prevent a fire.
