Firing case solved within hrs; 3 hardcore smugglers held with 2.080 kg heroin, firearms

SAMBA, June 12: Police here today achieved a major success and solved the sensational Rangoor firing case within hours of commission of the crime and arrested three hardcore narcotic smugglers and recovered 2.080 kg heroin, Rs. 93200 cash, one pistol, one magazine and some rounds from their possession.

Addressing a press conference SSP Samba, Benam Tosh said on the intervening night of June 11 and 12, 2023, three heroin smugglers Jagdeep Singh, 21, son of Dilbag Singh, resident of Madipur, Taran Taran (Punjab); Satinderpal Singh, 26, son of Daljinder Singh, resident of Rattoke, Taran Taran (Punjab) and Sunny Kumar, 22, son of Surjeet Singh, resident of Guru Nanakpura, Amritsar entered into altercation followed by scuffle on trivial issue of giving pass to the vehicle of some local youths at border village Rangoor Camp falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramgarh.
“During scuffle, Satinder Paul Singh opened fire with pistol of Glock make upon the local youth due to which two local youths Sunil Kumar, 21, son of Bhagwan Dass, resident of Rangoor Camp and Sunil Kumar, 21, son of Amarnath, resident of Rangoor Camp sustained bullet injuries,” the SSP told reporters adding that one of the three smugglers Sunny was also injured due to gunshot of his accomplice Satinder Paul Singh during the scuffle.
He said, as the smugglers’ Innova vehicle was caught by local youths after firing, smugglers including the injured one fled from the spot using bike belonging to the local youth.
“In the meanwhile, information was received through reliable sources by Police Station Ramgarh regarding the firing incident and Police registered a case in FIR No. 31/2023 U/S 307 IPC, 3/25 Arms Act at Police Station Ramgarh and started investigation,” SSP Samba maintained adding: “All Nakas across the district were alerted and information was shared with all the Police Stations and Police Posts of the district by PCR Samba on directions of SSP Samba office.”
He said that cops at Rarian Naka succeeded in apprehending all the three smugglers who were fleeing after committing the crime.
“All the three injured were immediately shifted to CHC Ramgarh from where they were referred to GMC Jammu for advanced treatment,” SSP Benam Tosh said.
He said that Police has arrested all the three heroin smugglers including the injured one wherein during questioning they disclosed in the presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class that they had hidden Pistol Glock with magazine ammunitions and some suspicious packets near Rarian Naka point.
“Upon this, a Police team comprising SDPO Vijaypur, Executive Magistrate 1st Class, SHO and other officers brought the accused to the disclosed suspected Point near Rarian and recovered one pistol with one magazine and four live rounds and two packets of heroin weighing 2.080 kg,” the SSP continued adding that upon this, Police added section 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act to the case and started investigation.
A handout of the Police Department stated that cops also recovered Rs. 93200 from the possession of the accused and also seized four costly mobile phones including one of Apple make from their possession.
“Police has also seized the Innova vehicle bearing registration No.CH0BW-8889 with was used for heroin smuggling,” it further stated adding that cops also seized three used rounds and one live round from the scene of crime and further investigation of the case was underway.
The entire operation was conducted under the guidance of DGP J&K, Dilbag Singh; ADGP Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh and DIG JKS Range, Shakti Pathak, the handout continued.
