NEW DELHI, Aug 25: Firm conditions prevailed in the wholesale grains market today as wheat and other bold grain prices spurted on hectic demand against tight supplies.
Traders said hectic demand from flour mills and stockists amid tight supplies mainly led to an upsurge in wheat prices.
They said increased offtake from consuming industries helped other bold grains to trade higher.
In the national capital,wheat dara (for mills) shot up further by Rs 70 to Rs 1,600-1,610, while wheat deshi followed suit and traded higher by similar margin to Rs 1,970-2,170 per quintal, respectively. Atta chakki delivery spurted by Rs 100 to Rs 1,650-1,660 per 90 kg.
Atta flour mills, maida and sooji also finished higher at Rs 840-880, Rs 960-980 and Rs 1050-1080 against last close of Rs 800-820, Rs 920-950 and Rs 980-1,000 per 50 kg.
Bajra and maize also jumped up by Rs 25 and Rs 80 to Rs 1225-1230 and Rs 1380-1390 and barley shot up by Rs 60 to Rs 1400-1410 per quintal, respectively.
