Firm demand pushes up cardamom futures

NEW DELHI, July 2: Cardamom prices were up 0.38 per cent to Rs 824.70 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pickup in demand at the spot market amidst restricted supplies from producing regions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in August inched up by Rs 3.10, or 0.38 per cent to Rs 824.70 per kg in a business turnover of 13 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in July contracts rose by Rs 1.90, or 0.23 per cent to Rs 832.80 per kg in 87 lots.
Market analysts said speculators built up fresh positions on the back of pickup in demand in the market, lifting cardamom prices higher at futures trade. (PTI)
