KOCHI, Feb 18: The first consignment of Neera Coco Nectar, a nutritious health drink tapped from the inflorescence of coconut tree, was flagged off from Kochi Port to USA.
Neera Coco Nectar, produced by Global Coconut Farmers Producer Company Limited (GCFPCL) Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, was flagged off by Dr KB Hebbar, Director, Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI) and Vice Chairman, Coconut Development Board, at the premises of the Container Freight Station, Vallarpadam, on February 17.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hebbar praised the company for making an entry in to the global market and said this is the result of the efforts of 1200 member farmers of the company.
Mr. Balasubramanian, Director, Global CPC, said that the company will work more for exporting one container every month. Dr. Hanumanantha Gowda, Chief Coconut Development Officer spoke during the occasion. Regent North America LLC is the importer of the product in the USA.
The programme was attended by Jayachandran IRS, Customs Deputy Commissioner, Ajay Kumar, Customs Superintendent, Sushant Awathi, Director DP World, R. Madhu, Secretary, Coconut Development Board, and representatives of Global Coconut Farmers Producer Company Limited.
Global Coconut Producer Company, Tirupur, Tamil Nadu is Farmer Producer Organisation having 1200 member farmers functioning with the primary objective of enhancing the livelihoods of its member farmers, aiming to elevate their income and overall well-being.
The company is producing 1000 litre neera per day and product is being sold in around 600 outlets in Tamil Nadu of which 200 outlets are organic stores.
The product is available in online platform like Flipkart and Amazon. Thenneera, a natural drink collected from coconut inflorescence is a unique beverage which is delicious and nutritious.
This first-of-its-kind drink tetra-packed without preservatives is having shelf life of 12 months. The distributor for Thenneera in Kerala is QRS Marketing Pvt. Ltd. The Coco Nectar is having Kosher Certificate, FSSC 22000, HACCP, USDA (Organic Certificate etc). (UNI)
