RAMBAN, Feb 13: The first electric engine train with eight coaches here ran for trial from Sangaldan-Khari section on 111 km long Banihal-Katra section of USBRL project on Tuesday evening.
A large number of people witnessed the train trial run between Banihal-Khari-Sumbar-Sangaldan Railway Stations.
Engineers of Konkan and AFCON International Limited engaged by Northern Railway for USBRL Project informed that the 25 kV, Railway Electrification (ROCS) work between Sangaldan and Khari Stations was completed by Siemens Limited and the first Memu trial run of electric engine train with eight coaches was successfully conducted by Northern Railway Firozpur Division.
They said the trial run was conducted on Banihal-Khari-Sumbar Sangaldan sections of USBRL project in the presence of officers and engineers of Northern Railway.
The engineers also said that Banihal-Sangaldan section of USBRL project in Ramban district is ready for operation.
An official from Firozpur Division of Northern Railway said the work on Sangaldan-Banihal section of the USBRL project was completed and this section is now ready for necessary CRS inspections.
Meanwhile, in a statement Chief Admin Officer, Northern Railway Construction Organization for USBRL project stated that newly constructed line in Khari-Sumber (13.656 Km) and Sumber-Sangaldan (19.504 Km) sections of Firozpur Division will be opened with electric train operation shortly.
A high-speed trial of the section by special train will be conducted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) on February 16 after trolley inspection on February 15. Thereafter, train operation will start between Khari to Sangaldan Stations of USBRL project.
As per a handout the general public is informed to stay away from Railway lines in Khari-Sumbar-Sangaldan section as crossing the track at any location is trespassing and is a punishable offence and liable for prosecution under Railway Act.
