First ever advanced Laparoscopic surgery performed at CHC Katra

KATRA, Feb 12: First ever advanced Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia surgery and Laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy was performed at Community Health Centre Katra.
This is first ever in the history of India that an advanced Laparoscopic Trans Abdominal Preperitoneal (TAAP) Inguinal Hernia surgery & Laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy has been performed at a Community Health Centre.
This surgery is rarely performed even at GMC Jammu, SMGS Hospital and other private hospital in Jammu division.
This surgery was performed and headed by Dr Mukesh Sharma, Consultant Surgery at CHC Katra. He not only performed this advanced surgery but has also remained successful in the first attempt itself with minimal gadgets at the Community Health Centre.
The cost of such surgeries in private sector amounts to whooping 100-150K but Dr Mukesh Sharma’s hard work, talent and selfless initiative provided the same free of cost to the people of small Sub District hospital of district Reasi.
The medical team consisted of Dr Mukesh Sharma, Consultant Surgery, Dr Rakesh Anand, Dr Promila, Dr Roma, Anaesthetic, Sanjay Kesar, theatre assistant and Tirath Ram and Reeta.
This surgery was performed under the supervision of BMO Dr Gopal Dutt and overall guidance of CMO Reasi, Dr Rajeev K Sharma & directions from Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Renu Sharma.
The CHC Katra was earlier in the news for grabbing National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) & Commendation award for Kavakalp.
