First- ever Dry Port in J&K

Foreign direct investment, attracting for which individual states in India are making all efforts to boost infrastructural development which could boost their annual growth while Jammu and Kashmir, unfortunately, for host of reasons, has been abysmally at the lower side of attracting any FDI . The only hope of getting Rs.1500 crore under such investment stands facing very rough weather as Dubai Ports Group has rejected the land identified by the State Government in Samba district for proposed setting up of first ever Dry Port in Jammu and Kashmir. The Government of Jammu and Kashmir and the Dubai Ports Group had gone to the extent of even inking a pact for a joint venture for setting up of inland logistic hubs in Jammu and Srinagar capital cities. Needless to add, all the required formalities in this regard were duly completed by the State Government.
This prestigious project was announced in the year 2018-19 , which besides to attract FDI, was aimed at giving a boost to local economy. This followed long pending demand from the industry in Jammu and Kashmir for construction of Dry Port which was expected to go a long way in helping the industry in reducing transportation and other costs.
Since the joint venture under reference is loaded with lot of promises for the industries and a good amount of FDI too is involved, it would be prudent to satisfy the requirement of the main venturer in respect of allotting the land other than the one chosen by the State Government and sort out the issue suitably but without losing any further time as that was fraught with the prospects of adversely affecting the venture itself.
