MUMBAI:
Roots Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), today launched an 80-room Ginger Hotels at Katra in Jammu, taking the number of properties under the brand to 32.
This is the first hotel under Ginger brand at Katra, a town at the foothills of Trikuta mountains located 48km from Jammu. The town serves as the base camp for the famous shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
“We are primarily focused on business destinations and Tier-I cities. However, we recognised that there is a huge potential in pilgrimage locations where people are in the look out for good hotels and are delighted to expand our portfolio to the foothills of Mata Vaishno Devi temple with the opening of our first Ginger hotel in Katra,” Roots Corp Managing Director and Chief Executive P K Mohankumar said here.
‘Ginger Katra’ is designed to cater to the needs of families. Roots Corp has entered into a contract with B V P K Hotels for managing the 80-room facility. With this launch, there are now a total of 32 Ginger Hotels.
The hospitality company is planning to tap the potential in pilgrimage segment with properties in places like Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Shirdi ( Maharashtra), Ajmer (Rajasthan) and Velankanni (Tamil Nadu), Mohankumar said.
These locations draw a huge number pilgrims, who are in need of safety, hygiene and comfort, he said. (AGENCIES)
