JAMMU, Apr 3: The first meeting of newly formed Jammu and Kashmir State Dental Council (JKSDC) was held under the presidentship of Dr Romesh Singh, Principal, Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC), Jammu.
It was resolved in the meeting that online registration for the dentists of the State will be started to make the process hassle free. Registration of dental clinics, laboratories and dental X-ray units will be conducted in time bound manner.
It was also resolved that the stringent action will be initiated against dental quacks and illegal dental clinics as these are the biggest reason for spread of blood borne infections like HIV and Hepatitis. They do not follow the universal precautions and use the instruments without proper sterilization.
Meanwhile, Dr Gautam Sharma, president elect Indian Dental Association (IDA), Dr Ritesh Gupta, Registrar, JKSDC and Dr Bhupinder Singh, Secretary IDA, met Dr Neelu Sharma, Principal Scientific Officer, J&K Pollution Control Board, regarding some issues of dentists pertaining to disposal of biomedical waste.
