JAMMU, Mar 21: A fisherman died due to drowning in river Tawi here today.
As per police sources, passerby noticed a male body in river Tawi and informed the police.
On getting information, a team from Police Station Nowabad immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the body to mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem.
The deceased was identified as Rakesh Kumar alias Kala, son of Sain Dass, a resident of Reshamgarh District Jammu. He drowns in river Tawi while catching fishes as net with fishes was also found near his body.
However, inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC have been initiated by Nowabad Police in this regard.
