JAMMU, Feb 17: In two separate cases, five drug peddlers along with 1200 grams of charas have been arrested by the police.
“A police party of police station Gandhi Nagar while on naka duty at Cremation Ground, Shastri Nagar intercepted a Tempo (bearing registration number JK02BA-1833) for checking yesterday and during checking of the vehicle, 650 grams of Cannabis plant material (charas) like substance was recovered from the possession of driver and two other occupants of the vehicle,” a police spokesperson said.
He said that the ‘charas’ as well as the vehicle was seized and all the three accused namely Sunny Mehra son of Tilak Raj of Nai Basti (Jammu), Mohd Irfan son of Abdul Majid of Gandhi Nagar (Jammu) and Raj Kumar son of Balbir Chand of Indira Colony, Shastri Nagar (Jammu) were arrested by the police while a case FIR number 50/2020 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered in this connection at police station Gandhi Nagar.
Meanwhile, Doda police nabbed two drug peddlers along with 550 grams of ‘charas’ during naka checking at Assar. The recovered ‘charas’ was in the shape of ‘challies’, which were 15 in number. The arrested accused were identified as Vijay Kumar son of Mool Raj, resident of Ugad (Doda) and Shahid Umar son of Noor Din, resident of Dhandan Kastigrah.
In this connection, a case FIR number 05/2020 under Section 8/20 NDPS was registered at police station Assar and further investigation started. The whole operation was conducted by ASI Rajinder Singh of police station Assar under the supervision of Deputy SP DAR Doda and SHO police station Assar and overall supervision of Additional SP Doda Master Poppsy.
