Five bovine smuggling bids foiled, 436 bovines rescued

RAMBAN, May 1: Raman police today foiled five major bovine smuggling bids and rescued 436 bovines from the clutches of smugglers.
According to a police official, police parties led by SHO Ramban, Inspector Vijay Kotwal, SHO Batote Inspector Nazir Ahmed and SHO Chanderkote Inspector Abid Bukhari laid surprise naka’s at Ramban, Chanderkote and Nashri, respectively on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
During checking near Shan Palace (police station Ramban), nine trucks bearing Registration numbers JK02AP-5733, JK02BT-6359, JK03F-8036, JK03F-803, JK03F-4058, JK03B-9315, JK03C-4546, JK18A-0065 and JK18A-2858 got intercepted. On search of these vehicles, 145 Bovine animals were rescued.
At Chanderkote naka, police intercepted 4 trucks and 1 Tata Mobile bearing registration numbers JK03G-5992, JK14B-3771, JK19-2427, JK0BK-0277 and JK19-0920 (Tata Mobile), and on search rescued 120 bovine animals.
Similarly, during checking at Nashri, 6 trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AP-7318, JK03C-9009, JK02AC-7987, JK02AC-8569, JK02C-3887 and JK14B-4277 were intercepted and on search of these vehicles 138 bovine animals were rescued.
Moreover, SHO Ramsoo Inspector Javed Ahmed and SHO Banihal Inspector Ajaz Wani laid nakas at Ramsoo and Banihal and intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK18A-2860 (truck) at Ramsoo and JK02CB-7795 (Tata Mobile) at Banihal and rescued 23 and 10 bovine animals, respectively.
Overall, 436 bovines were rescued by the Banihal police from 21 suspected smugglers. The arrested smugglers were Manzoor Ahmed son of Fateh Mohd of Nagrota, Mohd Fareed son of Abdul Wahid of Reasi, Rinku Kumar son of Darshan Lal of Bari- Brahmna, Satpaul Singh son of Hari Singh of Simbal Camp, Riyaz Ahmed son of Mubarikitoo of Banihal, Firdous Ahmed son of Gh Mohd of Sherpora (Anantnag), Mohd Aslam son of Liyaket Ali of Akhil (Jammu), Mohd Khushal son of Chandi of Ramban, Abdul Rashid son of Rather of Nagrota, Imtiaz Ahmed son of Gh Mustafa of Kulgam, Maner Ahmed son of Mohd Yousuf of Kulgam, Rayies Ahmed son of Wali Mohd of Pangoor (Kulgam), Arif Hussain son of Abdul Rashid of Wadwan, Shabir Ahmed son of Shabaz of Anantnag, Rayes Ahmed son of Asdullah of Qazikund, Arif son of Mukhtyar of Tanger (Ramban), Irshad Ahmed son of Abdul Rehman of Qazikund, Mohd Hanif son of Nazir Ahmed of Karimchi (Udhampur), Asif Rashid son of Abdul Rashied of Chamalwas (Banihal), Bilal Ahmed son of Asdullah Mir of Khanmeer (Srinagar) and Saqib Ahmed son of Ab Rahman of Qazikund (Kulgam).
All the vehicles were also seized. On questioning, the suspected person’s revealed that they were trying to smuggle these bovine animals towards Kashmir without seeking permission from the concerned authorities.
In this regard, separate cases have been registered under Section 188 RPC, 3PC Act at police stations Ramban, Batote, Chanderkote, Ramsoo and Banihal and further investigations started.
