SAMBA, Jan 13: Police has successfully thwarted a bovine smuggling attempt within the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal, rescuing five bovines and seizing the vehicle used for their illegal transportation.
The incident occurred during a vehicle-checking operation led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Ghagwal at the Rai Morh checkpoint. The police intercepted a Bolero pickup, bearing registration number JK08N-4170, and upon inspection, discovered five bovines tied in a cruel manner being transported without valid permission.
The rescued animals were promptly shifted to a safer location, and a case has been registered under FIR Number 05/2025 U/S 223 BNS and 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. An investigation into the case has been initiated.
