Five day long ‘Vet Fest Inicio 2k16’ concludes

JAMMU, Nov 25: Five day long “Vet Fest Inicio 2k16”, organized by Faculty of Veterinary Science and AH, SKUAST-Jammu, RS Pura concluded today.
The valedictory function started with a Cross Country 6 km run and a gala all breed ‘Dog Show’.
In the Cross Country Run, Ayushi and Arif bagged the first position in student category while Dr Anish Yadav and Dr Shilpa Sood claimed the first rank amongst faculty whereas in Non-Teaching and special participants, Sindhu Sharma and Bachan Singh got the first prizes.
Dr KS Risam, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion of ‘Dog Show’ who inaugurated the show.
BSF Core Paloura, Jammu and J&K Crime Branch Police demonstrated various commando performances and patrolling exercises of their dog squads which are useful in crime investigations. Besides, 12 breeds competed in the championship and the Lhasa Apso owned by Anju Bakshi was awarded trophy for being ‘Best in the Show’. The first and second runner-ups were Bull Terrier and Cocker Spainiel Breeds owned by Sachin Sahwney and Shweta respectively. ‘Best Puppy’ award was given to Pit Bull owned by Dr MA Malik.
The judging was done by Dr Abhijit M Pawde, Principal Scientist, Division of Surgery, IVRI, Izatnagar, Bareilly, UP, Dr MS Bhadwal, Associate Dean, FV Science and AH and Dr BB Raina, Veterinary Officer, Animal Husbandry Department, Jammu.
Dr JS Soodan, Prof and Head, Division of TVCC was the convener of the show.
The prizes amongst the winners were distributed by Dr MM S Zama, Dean of the Faculty, Dr Parmod Baru, Associate Director Research, SKUAST-J and Dr Rajesh Katoch, Prof and Head, Division of Veterinary Parasitology and Organizing Secretary of the ‘Vet Fest Inicio 2K16.
Dr Pradeep K Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the University conveyed the best wishes to the Organizing Committee and the winners of the various competitions held during the festival.
