RAMBAN, Sept 2: Five persons were arrested for carrying the scrap illegally here today.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Ramban Police Station led by SHO Dharminder Singh laid a naka and intercepted five trucks bearing registration numbers JK19-9461, JK19-2187, JK13B-1760, JKO2AD-1901 and JK02B-0316 carrying scrap.
During checking of documents, it came to fore that the drivers of the vehicles had collected the scrap from the railway work site at Banihal and were carrying the same to Jammu illegally.
All the five accused were arrested on the spot, who have been identified as Mohammad Yousuf, son of Ali Mohammad, a resident of Charel, tehsil Banihal, Majid Majeed, son of Muzamil, a resident of Nagbal, tehsil Banihal, Abdul Waheed, son of Sanaullah of Tethar, tehsil Banihal, Imtiyaz Ahmed, son of Ghulam Rasool and Abdul Gani, son of Mohammad Ramzan, both residents of Karawa, tehsil Banihal.
A case under FIR number 114/14 under Section 409, 379 and 120-B RPC has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation started.
