JAMMU, May 29: Police today claimed they have arrested five people for allegedly attacking a former Sarpanch and his family members in Bishnah area here.
A scuffle broke out between two parties on May 28, resulting in injuries to a former Sarpanch and his relatives in Deoli area of Bishnah, a police official said.
He said taking cognisance of the matter, a case FIR number 71/2024 under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Bishnah against five people, including a woman.
All the booked people, who are relatives of the ex-Sarpanch, Yashpal Sharma, have been arrested, said the police official.
Further investigation into the case is underway, added the police official.
