KISHTWAR, Jan 7: Police here today arrested five persons for their involvement in unauthorized extraction of forest products.
Cops from Police Station Atholi led by SHO Atholi, Inspector Vikram Parihar established a special Naka near Sheetla Mata Mandir Gulabgarh and stopped a car of Scorpio make bearing registration number JK-17-5431, moving from Sohal to Gulabgrah.
During checking of the vehicle, cops recovered two sacks and three Pithu bags loaded with forest produce. On this Police personnel on duty arrested all the five persons on the spot and seized the vehicle.
The arrested persons were identified as Nawang Sentam, son of Subash Chander, resident of Kabban Paddar; Mahaver, son of Jayander Singh, resident of Uttarkashi; Kshitij Bhutani, son of Lokesh Bhutani, resident of Delhi; Sagar Tamang, son of Angdak Tamang, resident of Nepal, at present Dehradun, Uttarakhand and Gan Magar, son of Bakil Magar, resident of Nepal, at present Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
Police has taken cognizance of the matter and registered a case in FIR number 02/2024 Under relevant Sections of the law at Police Station Atholi and started investigation.
