Five narco smugglers land in police net with heroin

JAMMU, Jan 4: In a crackdown over the persons indulged in drugs smuggling, police arrested five narcotic smugglers along with 9 grams heroin worth over Rs 45,000 from Kirpind Road, falling under the jurisdiction of Miran Sahib police station.
As per police sources, on specific information about the persons indulged in smuggling of narcotics, a team from Miran Sahib police station laid a naka on Kirpind Road and intercepted a car bearing registration number JK11A-3820 and a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AP-5322.
During checking, police recovered 9 grams heroin worth over Rs 45,000 from the possession of five persons and arrested them on the spot. Both the vehicles were also seized by the police.
The accused have been identified as Tariq Mehmood, son of Javed Ahmed Choudhary of Harsa Dabbar, Bishnah, Puran Chand alias Sonu, son of Ashok Kumar of Ward Number 1, Bishnah, Ankush Salgotra alias Tony, son of Harmesh Kumar of Mehmoodpur Bishnah, Rohit Sharma, son of Rakesh Sharma of Nowgran Bishnah and Aruneshwar Singh Charak alias Ankush Chib, son of Shamsher Singh Charak of Babliana Bishnah.
All the accused were indulged in sale of narcotics among the youths to make them drug addicts. With their arrest, Miran Sahib police made a great achievement in saving the future of hundreds of youths residing in Miran Sahib and nearby areas.
A case under FIR Number 2/16 under Section 8/21/22/29 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Miran Sahib police station and investigation started.
Police team headed by SHO Miran Sahib police station SI Hilal Azhar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh, SP Headquarters Romesh Kotwal and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
