JAMMU, Dec 31: Flights of both civil aviation companies—Pawan Hans and Global Vectra today resumed their services from Katra to Sanji Chat and vice versa after a day’s suspension yesterday following emergency landing by a Pawan Hans helicopter near Siar Dabri leading to injuries to Pilot and six pilgrims.
Additional CEO Shrine Board, Dr Mandeep K Bhandari said flights to holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi ji were resumed this morning. The flights operated normally during the day.
He added that a team of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) visited the site of emergency landing this morning to inquire into the reasons behind technical snag in the helicopter that compelled the Pilot to go for emergency landing.
CEO Shrine Board Navin Choudhary had yesterday written to the DGCA for an inquiry into the incident.
Meanwhile, 45,000 pilgrims today left Katra town, the base camp of the shrine, for darshan of Goddess Vaishno Devi on the eve of New Year. The number was likely to swell as a large number of yatris were still waiting at Katra for registration to pay obeisance at the cave shrine on the New Year.
DIG Udhampur-Reasi range Jagjit Kumar reviewed security arrangements for heavy rush of yatra.
