SRINAGAR, June 21: On the assurance of Minister of State for Agriculture, Horticulture and Floriculture Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, the Floriculture Employees and Workers Association today called off their 35-day old strike today.
Interacting with the workers, the Minister assured them that their all genuine demands will be examined and necessary steps would be taken to address them on priority. He said that the Government has already taken several important decisions to address the issues of the employees like implementation of the recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission, regularization of daily wagers, promotion of various categories of employees and other reformative measures for the welfare of the employees.
The Minister asked the Director Floriculture, Kashmir to submit proposal regarding regular disbursement of wages to casual labours with weekly break, treating of strike period as on duty and regularization of the daily wagers to the administrative department for further action.
Director Floriculture, Kashmir Sunil Misri, President Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee of Trade Union, Muhammad Maqbool Bhat, President and members of the Association were present on the occasion.
