Floriculture employees hold protest demonstration

JAMMU, May 8: The hundreds of employees and daily rated workers of the Department of Floriculture, Jammu region, held a protest demonstration in the premises of Director, Floriculture, Gandhi Nagar, here today in support of their demands.
The protest demonstration was organized under the leadership of the State general secretary of National State Government Employees Federation (NSGEF), Subhash Verma.
While addressing the protesting employees, Subhash Verma said that a lot of efforts had been made to draw the attention of the concerned authority towards their demands, through representation and verbal negotiations, but arrogant administration did nothing to resolve their issues.
Reiterating the demands of the floriculture employees, which included change of designations of helpers to gardners, regularisation of daily rated workers engaged in the department before and after 1994, withdrawl of Circular No 9 of GAD Department issued on March 26, 2013, providing uniforms to helpers, deputing security personnels on Ticket Counter at Jakhani Park, time bound promotions for employees, transfer of employees’ GPF from district fund office to Udhampur, maintaining seniority list, conduction of DPC meet for fulfilling vacant posts and placement of 4th class employees in their own districts, he urged the administration to resolve them to avoid any agitation by the employees.
Verma warned the administration of the department if their demands were not conceded by June 8, 2013, the employees would be left with no other option except organizing dharnas and hunger strikes in every garden throughout the Jammu region.
Prominent leaders of NSGEF who addressed the protestors includes Suman Sharma, Rattan Doshi, Jagdish Raj, Ganesh Dass and many others.
