JAMMU, Dec 30: A delegation of Flowers Growers met PWD, Floriculture Minister, Mohd Altaf Bhukari under the leadership of S.Tajinder Singh Wazir to discuss various difficulties and problem faced by flower growers in the State.
The delegation apprised the Minister about present grim scenario of commercial floriculture in the State where flowers growers are facing difficulty with respect to inputs, technology interventions, extension, value addition, marketing infrastructure and lack of funds under centrally sponsored schemes.
He request to streamline and make Department of Floriculture as a result oriented organization as commercial floriculture proved most lucrative and high profit enterprise in past where Jammu and Kashmir flowers were exported to other States.
The flower growers also discussed upcoming State budget 2016-17 and demanded exemption of Entry Tax on poly green house and its accessories, micro irrigation for farmer, budgetary support from State and district plans and 50% interest subsidy for working capital on the pattern of industry.
Minister acknowledged the demands are genuine and promises that they will be meet.
Beside others Sohan Lal, Ramneek Dubey, Harbans Lal, Tarsempal and Bachan Singh were present in the meeting.
