‘Maintain pressure on anti-peace elements’

SRINAGAR, Nov 4: Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain today directed the police and other security forces’ officers to launch operations in the upper reaches of Kashmir Valley to flush the hiding terrorists.
“The hiding terrorists in the upper reaches would make attempts to come down during the winters and this is the time for the forces to launch operations to neutralize them,” said the DGP while chairing a joint security review meeting with the DGP CRPF, Dr Sujoy Lal Thaosen, here at Police Control Room, Kashmir.
As per a statement, the joint meeting was organised to review all the security arrangements put in place for the winter season.
ADGP CRPF Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat; ADGP Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar, IG BSF Frontier Headquarters Kashmir, Ashok Yadav; IG CRPF Kashmir Ops Sector Gayendra Kumar Verma, IGP CRPF Srinagar (Ops) Sector, Ajay Yadav and several other officers attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the DGP Jammu and Kashmir Police, RR Swain, stressed for augmenting and enhancing of capabilities to achieve the desired results.
He directed for putting in use the modern techno tools to monitor the security situation.
He also directed for launching the operations in the higher reaches and flushing the hiding terrorists.
The DGP directed that the Dial 112 helpline in Police Control Rooms be augmented further and added that it would be the first respondent to any particular situation.
Stressing for remaining more vigilant against the terror support ecosystem, which is helping the terrorists to carry out their nefarious designs, the DGP directed for putting in utmost efforts in monitoring the moments of the suspect elements. He also stressed for coordinated efforts to demolish the OGW network, hybrid terrorists.
Swain further directed the forces to maintain pressure on anti-peace elements so that terror groups don’t get any chance of revival. He impressed upon the officers to work out strategies to further consolidate pace in the region.
Claiming that J&K has all-time low number of the active terrorists, DGP further cautioned the forces that there would be attempts to create disturbances in the region.
The DGP also visited Police Post Mir Bazar in Kulgam District in the late evening hours where he had a meaningful interaction with the officers to serve the public.
He encouraged the officers to work in synergy with other forces’ officers to thwart the nefarious designs of the elements inimical to the peace.
