FMPHWs suspend proposed fast unto death

JAMMU, Mar 28: The protesting Female Multipurpose Health Workers have decided to suspend the proposed fast unto death strike following assurance of the Minister for Health for early release of salary of the FMPHWs, working with the Family Welfare Department.
This was announced by the president of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation, Sushil Sudan and president of J&K Multipurpose Health Workers Association, Babli Sharma, while addressing a joint press conference, here today.
“During a meeting with the Minister, he told us that the matter has already been taken up with the Finance Minister  who assured that the salary of FMPHWs will be released very soon besides a permanent solution  for regular salary,” said Sushil Sudan.
In view of the assurance, he added, the FMPHWs have decided to suspend the proposed fast unto death from March 30 and appealed all the employees to perform duties with dedication.
Mr Sudan appealed the Director Health Services Jammu to also take up with the Minister FMPHWs’ other demands, which include up gradation of posts for promotion of FMPHWs to the posts of Health Educators and LHVs.
Neelam Devi, Kamla Devi, Rekha Rani, Swarn Kour, Rajni Devi and others were also present in the press conference.
