JAMMU : A dense fog enveloped this winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir today forcing people to start their daily routine a bit late from their scheduled times.
Jammu yesterday witnessed season’s coldest night with 3.6 degrees Celsius minimum temperature. However, sun was out despite foggy day in the afternoon. “More foggy days are expected ahead till the rain lashes the region,” a MeT official here today said.
He said that rainfall this time is already delayed and expected likely by the end of the current month as western disturbance is likely to hit the state.
Meanwhile, commuters faced hardships today due to foggy morning while the vehicles moved at snail’s pace with their headlights on. Kids covered in woollen clothes and uniforms were seen rushing to the schools amid chill and fog while people including labourers and small store shopkeepers lit firewood and coal to keep themselves warm. Trains and flights also arrived/departed few hours late from their scheduled timings. (AGENCIES)
