JAMMU, Sept 9: D Prasanth Kumar Reddy, Director (J&K and Ladakh), Union Ministry of Home Affairs visited BBIA Bhawan along with Dr Raghav Langer (Secretary, Planning Development and Monitoring Department, J&K Government), Kishore Singh Chib (Director, Industries & Commerce Department, Jammu), Virender Kumar Manyal (General Manager, DIC, Jammu) and other officials to discuss various issues related to the existing as well as new units to be established under NCSS-2021.
While welcoming D Prasanth Kumar Reddy, during his maiden visit to Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, T S Reen (chairman, Federation of Industries, Jammu) and Lalit Mahajan (co-chairman) highlighted various issues related to existing working industrial units of J&K.
During the course of discussions it has been brought in to the notice of Director (J&K and Ladakh) about the plight of existing working units suffering very badly due to denial of additional funds of Rs 160 crores for the settlement of turnover incentives for the period 2021-22, no provision of GST linked incentives to units under substantial expansion, denial of purchase preference by Government departments as majority of items are being purchased by Government departments through GeM Portal.
In respect of supply of goods to Government departments, the FoIJ leaders said it is the need of the hour to reserve some quantity for Micro & Small Scale Units as hundreds of Micro & Small Scale Units of J&K engaged in the supply of goods to Government departments prior to introduction of GeM Portal, are on the verge of closure.
In respect of Negative List issued by the Finance Department for the industrial goods covered under the State Package of Incentives, they said the worst sufferers are the units engaged in the manufacturing of edible oil by crushing of oil seeds as it is under Negative List.
It was further conveyed to D Prasanth Kumar Reddy and Dr Raghav Langer that majority of MSME Units are heading towards the sickness and it is the need of the hour to resolve the issues on priority basis.
Reddy and Dr Raghav Langer listened to all the issues highlighted by the representatives of Federation of Industries, Jammu (FoIJ) and assured them to take up the matter with the Commissioner/Secretary of Industries and Commerce Department J&K to resolve all the issue on priority basis.
The meeting was also attended by Deepak Dhawan (co-chairman FoIJ), Viraaj Malhotra (secretary general FoIJ) and Pardeep Vaid (convener FoIJ) along with other office Bearers of FoIJ, members of BBIA, Estate Manager, J&K SIDCO and other officials of Industries Department.
