JAMMU, Ded 20: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta and Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi today inaugurated a series of folk dance and music programmes at Bagh-e-Bahu.
The series of cultural programmes are being organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Bank to highlight the cultural and traditional heritage of the State.
Secretary JKAACL Dr. Aziz Hajini, Additional Secretary JKAACL Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn besides other officers of JKAACL were also present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta appreciated the efforts of the Academy in holding such a beautiful programme in Bagh-e-Bahu. He said that these activities play a vital role in promoting the cultural heritage of the State. He expressed hope that JKAACL will organize such types of programmes in future also.
While applauding the performance of artists, he said that the artists are the brand ambassadors of the State and their contribution is necessary for eradicating social evils from the society.
Priya Sethi complimented the Academy for organizing such an enthralling programme envisaging promotion of state’s rich cultural heritage. She said that these activities also help in acquainting the youth of the State with their roots that is our culture and traditions.
The folk parties who performed in today’s programme included Girdari Lal and Party (Karak), Ram Ditta and Party (Geetu) and Raj Kumar and Party (Haran).
It was announced by Secretary JKAACL that there will be regular show of such programmes every Sunday from 3 pm to 4 pm at the same venue.
