Food safety officers conduct surprise checks of market

JAMMU, May 27; In continuing with the  special drive to check the quality of  the Chinese Foods  viz Momos  being prepared , sold & served under most unhygienic conditions, a team of  Food Safety officers namely  Hans Raj Andotra, Jai Inder Singh and Daleep Singh  of Drug & Food Control Organization headed by  Sanjeev  Kumar , designated officer  Jammu district today  conducted surprise checks of Food Business Vendors at  Rampura,  Gandhi Nagar and Shastri Nagar. The team inspected seven establishments and   lifted  five samples of different food items such as  Chilli Sauce , ready meals (PaneerMakhnee),  Pan Masala , sweetened carbonated water and carbonated water ( Club Soda).
During the drive, three Food Business Operators including M/s Arun Thapa (houseowner) Ram Pura. M/s Amit Fast Food, Shastri Nagar and M/s Vimta Pizza, Gandhi Nagar Jammu  have been booked under the relevant provisions of the FSS Act for carrying out the food business under unhygienic and unsanitary conditions.  Moreover approximately 3500 pieces of Momosbeing prepared under unhygienic conditions and 20 kg Gobi were destroyed on spot as an abundant precaution.
The drive will continue. The Food Safety authorities have impressed upon the food business operators to strictly adhere to the provisions laid under FSSA & maintain high standards of sanitary & hygienic conditions to guarantee safe food to end users.
