Food Safety officers seize over 10 quintal suspicious Khoya

JAMMU, Nov 4: Over 10 quintal of suspicious Khoya was seized by Food Safety wing of Drug and Food Control Organization.
On getting specific inputs of some suspicious Khoya being transported from Delhi to Jammu by a train, a team of Food Safety officers headed by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety Jammu, reached Railway Station, Jammu and seized all the Khoya when it was being boarded off.
The consignment of Khoya was of Vishvinder Kumar Gupta & Sons, Daulat Ram & Sons of Hari Market and Maha Laxmi Khoya Bhandar, Bus stand, Jammu. The Food Safety officers lifted the samples of Khoya and sent it to food testing laboratory for detecting adulteration.
Moreover, the team challaned 11 food business operators in areas of Railway Station Jammu, Hari Market, Bus Stand, Shakti Nagar, Talab Tillo, Raghunath Bazaar, Pacca Danga and Purani Mandi under Section 56 of FSS Act 2006 and stop manufacturing and processing of sweets of three sweet shops as the infrastructures of their workshops were not satisfactory to carry out the business.
